Moms Helping Moms is a support group for those caregivers of children with cancer. This non-structured group meets monthly (alternating between the Southside and the Peninsula) to provide support, information, and a "brief escape" from feelings of treading alone in unchartered waters. After several Mom's realized that we are each others best asset in our children's cancer journey and beyond, an informal support group was formed. The meetings are held at a local church meeting room and many times are a fun away for Moms to share their experiences, tips for surviving long hospital stays, steroids, etc. or just an opportunity to laugh and be with other Moms who truly understand your daily struggles and concerns. Meetings on the Southside are held at St. Timothy Luthern Church, 1051 Kempsville Road, Norfolk and on the Peninsula at  Warwick United Church of Christ, 10 Matoaka Lane (J. Clyde Morris Blvd. and Jefferson Ave.) Newport News.  Meeting times are on a Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 pm with a dinner provided. For more information, contact Karen McKinley, PsyD at 757-668-7802.
